Prompt

Design Problem

How can we connect and manage individual LCD cabinet screens to a whole cloud ecosystem seamlessly? Furthermore how do we build an experience that will work for all hospital systems and future additional products?

Solving

Card Sorting

From onboarding and logging in to servicing and reporting cabinets, it was important to map out the product requirements in categories of jobs to be done.

User Roles

Based on the users role, they had different objectives to complete. One user may be required to view the cabinets needing service, and another user may need to find the cabinet with the right scope to use for a procedure.

The different level of permissions as well as the introduction of an integrated smart lock solution created a more complex landscape.

Groups

Groups were introduced to manage a set of cabinets similarly. This helps with different hospital layouts, floors, and departments. This also helps organize permissions with the added “Smartlock” solution that some departments and hospitals may or may not want.

Scale

With potentially a large ecosystem of cabinets and multiple jobs to be done. A dashboard is available to get a pulse on how well scopes are drying, when scopes were checked out, and if any maintenance is required. Furthermore, there is additional space on the header for product growth in the future as new solutions are added.

Business Value

A user responsible for maintenance can order parts to service the cabinet.

Admin Help

Lastly, Solaire has their own special admin view to help manage and support their clients.

With these different jobs to be done, different levels of user management and permissions were needed. The admins able to see everything, but most importantly, add and manage other users. The charge nurse or doctor needed special access as well. Not only to the web app, but physical access to the cabinet and lock. A department user was able to view but not manage.

Results

The website was launched in combination with the endoscopy cabinets and smart locks creating an ecosystem of products for hospitals to choose from.
